Sweet musically inspired braver boy chases the girl,
Gleaning, grinning, gladly gunning after a target in his sights,
Crazy fool in love with being in love,
Stunning, searching, strategically saving up money to take her out for a night,
She sees his feelings on his vest upon request,
Such tragedy,
When one expects love from a cold, fickle heart,
And no is the one word most damaging,
Intoxicating lyrics grim reminder,
The music plays in pianissimo,
Soft tears of heartbreak harping, dumbing strumming,
The fool who died the day she killed his dream,
Sullenly sits empty,
Alone in a pickup truck,
On the empty meadow,
Shotgun loaded,
Empty bourbon bottle blues,
Soft acoustic country clouds the mind of a drunken ear,
Young man with his life ahead,
With promise of many good years to those who’d want them shared,
Chest clenching pain, so hard to breathe,
Empty future in plain view at this point’s reach,
And disregard for any good not yet in range,
We’ve all been there,
The strong survive,
And write the words,
Make the music,
Sing songs sadly,
Informing those upon this point’s arrival,
They’re not alone,
When the acoustic guitar plays country music.
